Street scenes with strangers

Walking the streets, making everyday subjects interesting is a great pastime. As an added bonus, getting up the gumption to ask passersby to stop and pose for a minute or two has some great rewards.

Last year I undertook a 100 strangers project. The challenge of this project is to engage people and have them pose for a portrait. At the time of writing this I have got 13 photographs but I hope to get through my 100 by the end of summer 2016.

My current goal is to get to the stage where I can have them spend about 5 minutes to do a few poses and take more control of the lighting to get a near professional looking shot.

I will need to travel light but I’ll probably get a speedlite with small umbrella or softbox for fill flash and for glass it will be either the 50mm, 85mm, or 135mm lens, depending on the mood on that day.
