Begin at the beginning, go on till it is time to end, then stop. – Alice in Wonderland.
Photography is a great pursuit and I encourage anyone to give it a try, just take a few moments to catalogue the world that inspires you.
If you are interested in the natural beauty of day to day life in the street then grab a camera and take to the street.
If it is the the many faces of nature that captivate you, then capture the majestic, serene, wild or peaceful settings of our natural world and share it with everyone; the Internet, your close friends or maybe just for yourself in the quiet moments of reflection. It could be the remote reaches of the world, or the picturesque setting of your yard and street; you can make it special by photographing it the way you see it.
The world of fashion and beauty photography with all its glitz and glamour is getting more accessible than ever. If you like creating exciting scenes with interesting people that like being in front of the camera then this is for you. It’s a great way to meet people that will work with you to make that special image and tell that photographic story.
Portrait, family and event photography is especially challenging, but very fulfilling. Take a picture of someone that thinks they are not photogenic and show them their beauty, strength, charm or character in an image and the appreciation is it’s own reward.
Ive learned a lot, grown a lot, and met great people in this photographic journey, some of which I now have the privilege to call friends. It has expanded my world and exposure to different cultures and tastes that I would have otherwise never known. I’ve grown brave enough to go to folks on the street and just talk; I’ve met people young and old and look forward to meeting more.
What’s next? I’d like to make a statement with my work, either artistic or editorial. I’ve not done that yet but I want to accomplish that by the end of the year. Keep checking back regularly to see how that progresses.
Payment? Not in the future plans and for now I am mainly TFP (time for picture – give me your time and I will make great photos with you). I have great respect for professional photographers. This is a rewarding hobby but a tough business. Hats off to the people that can do this for a living.
I encourage you to try it all, fashion, lifestyle, family, nature, macro, beauty, glamour, street photography, help your freinds build a catalogue of the special moments in their lives . I have a Nikon DSLR, prime lenses, zoom lenses, filters, lights, but I have learned that you don’t need all of that to enjoy this hobby or profession and make great images. Just grab an entry level camera, and I bet you get sucked in after you see your images get better rapidly.
I’ve always had more than a casual interest in music, art and being creative. At a young age I designed and drew comics for the kids in the school and neighbourhood. Largely self taught, I later moved into painting and drawing landscapes and portraits.
Photography started as a passing interest. It’s not my career, but I’ve been delving deeply into the field in the past couple years. I explore all fields of photography including product, fashion, portrait, and landscape, but I really like working with other creative and innovative people. I work to get to know and bring out the best in any subject and in exchange for someone’s trust and time I offer great images and a memorable experience.
If you are a creative person and wish to collaborate on a project feel free to send me a message.
